Meetings are often held in conference rooms

Not sure why but our management deems it necessary to have weekly meetings. I have yet to figure out the reasoning behind this because of a few factors.

Daily Updates:

That’s right anytime we are working on projects that they feel the need to pass around we have to give status updates. Then do it once again on the weekly meeting.

Bi-Weekly Status:

Oh, if the daily and weekly updates weren’t good enough for you we have bi-weekly. I haven’t pin-pointed the schedule just yet but usually ‘update’ is held by the coffee pot where the supervisor feels the needs to question whomever is there on the project they are working on.

Awesome! Just what I need with my first cup of coffee. Insert the sarcasm emoticon here please.

Email Updates:

“I know I gave you the project this morning but have you had a chance to look over it? If you can let me know before end of day where to find that information?”

…uuuh what? This happens just about every day and in turn I know personally I’m not able to determine priorities on any project whatsoever.

Overall I never understood the meaning behind a meeting. I know what it is suppose to convey but it rarely ever does – from personal experience. I think next post I’ll dive into a meeting and what exactly happens.
