Christmas Parties Do’s and Don’ts

Why do people think that office Christmas parties are a time to let go of all wild ambitions? I’ll never understand it. Since working in the office I’ve come up with a few “Do’s” and “Don’ts” – let me know what you think.

Do Have Fun

It is suppose to be a fun time so do enjoy yourself. Do have fun and don’t be that guy/girl who takes the sandwich/cake back to the desk and doesn’t mingle. That’s ridiculous.

Don’t Get Drunk

I don’t even know why I have to say this but yet every year it happens. A few people get a little too tipsy. Sometimes we might not have alcohol and other times we do. When we do everyone looks at those select few who can’t seem to hold their beer. Don’t be THAT person.

Do Mingle With Co-Workers and Boss

This is your time to really get to know those you work with and for. Even though you still might be in the office you don’t have to talk about office ‘stuff’. Why talk about the project that feel through? Why worry about the client that hasn’t paid on time for the last few months?

This goes back to #1 – have fun.

Don’t Get TOO Personal

Stay superficial for the most part. There is NO need to let your co-workers know about a cyst you had removed when you were out for two days last month. There is no need to let them know that you’ve had three DUI’s this past year. There is no need to get into what exactly you think of management.

Don’t Have An Office Fling

Why-o-why do people think it’s ‘OK’ to get into a relationship at the office especially during a Christmas party? Then think NO ONE will find out. Uh, for your information everyone knows! Especially when a bra is found in a coworkers desk drawer. It’s funny at first then it just gets weird.

Do you have anymore Do’s and Don’ts – let me know.
